March 5, 2016
12:30PM to 6:00PM
It’s time to meet the pink beauties at the annual BNHS Flamingo Festival!
BNHS-India is all geared up to once again host its annual Flamingo Festival on Saturday, 5th March 2016. This hugely popular annual event, which takes the form of a “nature fair”, provides an excellent opportunity to closely observe and enjoy dozens of species of wetland birds, with over 15,000 flamingos as the main attraction.
Apart from observing flamingos to one’s heart’s content, this is also a good opportunity to observe other species of resident and migratory water birds including various species of herons, egrets, ibises, gulls, terns, sandpipers and kingfishers, under the guidance of BNHS experts. One can also gain a lot of knowledge about wetland ecosystem and birds through entertaining quizzes/bird tattoos; visual displays (exhibition), nature publications and educational activities like “Span your Wings” and “Beak and Feet”. Winners from various competitions held will also be felicitated on the day of the Festival.
Myriad online competitions have been planned for various age groups by BNHS Conservation Education Centre (CEC), which will be hosted as events on BNHS official Face Book page, with exciting prizes in each category. Starting a week before the Festival, the following competitions will be hosted, one per day: Painting (standard 5th to 7th), Slogan writing (standard 8th to 10th), Poetry writing (first year college to post graduation), Photography (all age groups) and Quiz (all age groups).
